After graduating college, she worked in early childhood for a few years before taking a teaching job. She received her masters in 2007 and pursued other educational opportunities. Tameka and her husband of 5 years have 4 children.  Their twin girls passed away in 2013 and in 2014, S&K Preemie Love Foundation was launched in honor and memory of their precious babies. Tameka is the founder and executive director. In her spare time, she loves spending time with family and friends and making others laugh.
